Hey everybody. Hope everyone is doing well. My name is Rob Delaney, I’m a 24 year old relief
pitcher from River Vale, New Jersey. I played college baseball at St. John’s University in Queens, New York and graduated in 2006 with a degree in Sports Management. Since signing as an Undrafted Free Agent, I have played in the Gulf Coast League (Ft. Myers), Midwest League (Beloit), Florida State League (Ft. Myers), and most recently the Eastern League (New Britain). I have been asked to write about my time so far in the AFL, I hope Manship doesn’t mind I’m writing on his blog, oh well here it goes…
I’m playing for the Phoenix Desert Dogs while out here in the Arizona Fall League. Our team is comprised of players from the Twins, Blue Jays, Diamondbacks, A’s, and the Rockies. The Dogs are currently in 2nd place in the National Division with an 8-8 record. We are starting to build some good team chemistry and seem to be getting on a roll. Since being out here I’ve had a great time. This past weekend I had the opportunity to play in the Rising Stars game. It was a great experience to play with such a talented group of guys. I do believe it is an honor and a privilege to be out here playing with the best of the best. Hopefully the Dogs can continue playing well and climb the ladder to first place in our division.
